Who’s Taking Care of HR?

When the you-know-what hits the fan, “HR is expected to be the calm one; to be the voice of reason; to not let it get to us or at least show that it doesn’t get to us.”

“Some days we are therapists. Some days we are HR police. Some days we are … cat wranglers.”

Does this sound like your job? Then you know what Shiah Bazeley  was talking about last fall when she told a DisruptHR Vancouver audience, “We are taking so much time taking care of others’ needs, that we’re neglecting our own needs.”

“I believe that HR professionals are experiencing higher levels of stress and exhaustion than ever before,” declares Bazeley, who is Director of Human Resources at Vega, a Canadian natural health food and supplement company.

What’s to be done? “Choose to be a champion of your own self-care,” says Bazeley who offers this 5 minute roadmap for doing just that.
