How One Company Eliminated Managers

DisruptHREdwin Jansen is a recovering manager who works for a company that has no managers.

When he delivered his DisruptHR talk last year in Toronto, the head of marketing for Fitzii had 118 days since last being “drunk on the power of bossing adults around all day.”

In 2015, Fitzii joined the small number of companies that flattened their org chart, allowing individual employees to make decisions, and not just small ones, says Jensen. “Anyone can make any decision provided you follow the advice process.”

How does that work? In 5 minutes he describes Fitzii’s decision-making process and discusses the value that self-management brings to an organization and to the employees.
